SINCLAIR

The whispers and murmurs about this Ephraim guy were getting on my nerves. What made it even worse was that I had never met the guy… and since meeting Alexander… I didn’t want to meet the guy. Didn’t want to ‘save the world with him’. I couldn’t convince The Almighty of that, though. I wouldn’t want to.

I wanted Alexander, and he wanted me. I knew that much…

I’m sure you’re asking the question as to how we came to be… and be comfortable around each other….

Before I give him the most prominent, brightest “Welcome Home!” that I can come up with, and disappear into the back of your mind forever, I’ll tell you.

This is how Alexander, one of God’s chosen Angels, and I came to be.

The night I died, and ended up at Heaven’s gates, he was there. The night I died and ended up in Heaven, I totally didn’t know who The Almighty was referring to when It told me “he’s going to need to remember you.” Or…. “I need you to see how much he loves you." That’s what It told me.

And for the longest time, even until now, I couldn’t remember whom It was talking about. Who ‘he’ was.

Nor did I care.

I had heard all the stories and rumors about how when you meet someone in Heaven who died, you’ll remember them. But here’s the thing, I didn’t want to remember the guy It was speaking of. And maybe It knew that- which is why It took his memory from me.

Or maybe I had never met him at all.

So, that night, he (whomever he was) wasn’t on my mind.

Alexander was.

I remember the heat radiating from the crown of my head, as I stared at The Almighty. I was nervous, and my hands were shaking.

“Welcome home, My Child,” It whispered so softly, I felt free.

I knew from that moment on, I didn’t want to go back to Earth. What for? For more chaos and damnation to keep me there? For friends who weren’t really friends to betray me?

After seeing just the entrance of the pearly gates, I knew I was home. I knew I was safe and loved.

From the corner of the right eye, I saw red—his hair. Then bronze. His skin. There was something magnetic about this moment. Something that felt right. Familiar.

He smiled, and I smiled back.

Day in and day out, the more time we spent together, the more my heart grew toward him, and his to mine.

Then when The Almighty told me he had to go away for a while, I knew something was different. I could see it in his face as he held me close by the River of Life.

This time… was going to be different.

Another ten years in Heaven without him awaited me. but little did I know once he returned, everything would change… for the better.
